Côtes du Rhône PDO

Origin: France
France Côtes du Rhône PDO

Côtes du Rhône are the 21 basic varieties of red, white, and rosé wines from the wine-growing Rhône region in France. The red blends are most well-known, and made from Grenache, Mourvèdre, or Syrah grapes planted on a variety of different soils which contribute to their unique character.

Cotes du Rhone red wines are indeed fruity and medium bodied, with an earthy flavour. Very food-friendly and versatile, they are an excellent match for grilled meat, chicken, and a wide variety of cheeses. White Côtes du Rhône have a crisp, balanced flavour with notes of citrus and apple and can be paired with any kind of fish or shellfish..

Côtes du Rhône is one of the oldest winegrowing regions of the world, dating back to the region’s Ancient Greek and Roman times and favoured among kings and Popes. French king Louis XV ordered that wine coming from the region be labelled “CDR” turning it into a recognised brand, and since then it has only increased in popularity around the world.
