Throughout the four days of the event, over 3000 visitors were transported on a journey across the European Union, exploring the authentic tastes, quality, and sustainability of EU food products.

The European Food Express pop-up embodied the essence of European culinary heritage. Designed as a vintage train, it invited visitors to travel through the 27 Member States of the EU, each stop revealing details of EU produce and culinary traditions. Guests immersed themselves in interactive experiences, delving into the world of EU agri-food, geographical indications (GIs), and the EU organic logo. Product displays, photo zones, and engaging talks provided a deep dive into the diversity, safety, and quality behind Europe’s world-renowned food and beverage products.

A highlight for many was the opportunity to win the exclusive “Europe in My Bag” meal kit by solving a quiz on EU agriculture and food products, adding a competitive yet educational twist to the event.

Culinary workshops led by top chefs
Cooking enthusiasts were treated to hands-on workshops with some of Korea’s leading culinary experts, who showcased the versatility of European ingredients. The classes were an instant hit, offering participants a chance to learn how to elevate everyday meals with EU products.

Chef Shin Soyoung kicked off the series with a Spanish-inspired cooking class, teaching participants how to create croquettes with top-quality EU ham and cheese. Chef Choi Yeonjung followed with a hearty European vegetable soup paired with toasted Comté PDO cheese, demonstrating how simple ingredients can be transformed into gourmet dishes. Chef Hong Shinae brought a touch of European café culture to life with a brunch featuring EU pancakes, jams, and cheeses. Finally, Chef Lee Hyunseung closed out the series with an autumnal pasta dish featuring Danish veal and Parmigiano Reggiano (PDO) cheese.

Inspiring talks on EU flavours
The event also featured a series of talks designed to educate attendees on the rich history and quality behind European products. Food critic Lee Yongjae’s “European Food Trip with Cheese” provided an enlightening exploration of Europe’s centuries-old cheese-making traditions.
Sommelier Song Jungha’s “The World of EU Wine” offered participants a sensory journey through Europe’s finest wines, with insights into the significance of PDO and PGI labels and the organic farming practices behind the production of EU wines.

The European Food Express delivered a comprehensive culinary experience, blending education with enjoyment. From the interactive exhibits to the expertly led classes and talks, it offered Seoul’s food enthusiasts a unique opportunity to connect with the heritage, quality, and sustainability that define European food products.
